Do you want your scooting trips to be fun and exciting? Well it all begins with the scooter you purchase and to make sure you get the right one here in this guide I have listed all the features you should check out before buying one.
Stability and wheel diameter
Are you slightly overweight? If yes then it is important that you check out the wheels of the scooter you like properly. Look for tires that have a rating A. This means that the tire is quite tough and long lasting.
As for wheel diameter I would recommend you opt for a scooter with a diameter for around 200mm since these will be quicker and offer better comfort as compared a scooters with narrow wheels.
Height of the handlebars
Want to ride your scooter more efficiently? Then you should avoid leaning and for that you need a scooter that has the right handlebar height. Most scooters come with a handlebar height of 42-23 inches which I feel is quite good.
When you ride your hands should be perpendicular to your body. The handlebars are present only to provide a better grip and balance so do not waste precious energy and lose speed by leaning on them.
Suspension
Hoping for a smooth ride? Then it is important your scooter has a good suspension system. Make sure suspension is present in the front as well as the rear. This will ensure better shock absorption.
Buy a scooter with soft suspension and you might have some trouble pushing since you will need to push harder. The suspension should be strong enough to take your weight. So take it for a spin and check them out before buying.
Wheel base
Well I love riding my scooter fast and I am sure you have that in mind too but for that it is important your scooter is stable and its stability depends on the wheelbase. The wheelbase helps manage your weight on the scooter.
For improved stability I suggest you opt for a scooter with a bigger wheelbase. The size I usually recommend is around 25.5-29 inches.
Confused what the wheelbase is? It is the area between the front and the back wheel.
Deck
As for the deck, the most important thing is the material used to make it. I recommend you opt for a scooter with an aluminium deck because they are quite strong and yet lightweight. Getting a lightweight deck is important since carrying it around become easy in case you have to go up the stairs etc.
Also make sure the deck is wide enough to fit in both your feet otherwise you might be in for a really uncomfortable ride.
